31 May 2015 - Feast of the Most Holy Trinity (Trinity Sunday and Commemoration of St. Petronilla, Virgin)

Double of the First Class
White

Nota bene: The Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary is transferred to Tuesday after Trinity Sunday. St. Pentronilla is still commemorated this day.

INTROIT Tob. 12. 6

BLESSED be the Holy Trinity and undivided Unity: we will give glory to him, because he hath shown his mercy to us. Ps.8.2. O Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is thy Name in all the earth. V.: Glory be.

¶ The Gloria in Excelsis follows the Kyrie Eleison at all masses during the year except when the color is purple, rose, or black, or at a ferial mass when the mass of the preceding Sunday is merely resumed.

COLLECT

O ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hast granted to thy servants, in confessing the true Father, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of Majesty to adore the Unity: we beseech thee, that by steadfastness in the same Faith, we may ever be defended against all adversity. Through.

COMMEMORATION: First Sunday after Pentecost

O GOD, the strength of those who put their trust in thee, be kindly attentive to our prayers, and since man's weakness is helpless without thee, grant the help of thy grace, that in observing thy commandments, we may please thee both in will and in deed. Through.

Commemoration: St. Petronilla

Hear our prayer, O God our Savior, and let us learn the spirit of true devotion from thy blessed virgin Petronilla, as we joyfully celebrate her feast. Through.

¶ There are no Seasonal Collects at this mass.

EPISTLE Rom. 11. 33-36

O THE depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments, and how unsearchable his ways! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and recompense shall be made him? For of him, and by him, and in him, are all things: to him be glory for ever. Amen.

GRADUAL Dan. 3. 55, 56

Blessed art thou, O Lord, that beholdest the depths and sittest above the Cherubim. V.: Blessed art thou, O Lord, in the firmament of heaven, and worthy of praise forever.

Alleluia, alleluia. V. Dan.3.52. Blessed art thou, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and worthy to be praised forever. Alleluia.

+ The Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew (28.18-20)

AT that time Jesus said to his disciples: All is power given to me in heaven and on earth. Going therefore, teach ye all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

The Creed is said.

¶ And note that the Creed is said on all Sundays and Feasts throughout the year, but not on feriae where the Sunday mass is merely resumed.

OFFERTORY Tob. 12. 6

Blessed be God the Father, and the only-begotten Son of God, and also the Holy Spirit; because he hath shown his mercy to us.

SECRET

SANCTIFY, we beseech thee, O Lord, our God, by the invocation of thy holy Name, the Sacrifice we offer, and by it make of us an everlasting offering unto thee. Through.

COMMEMORATION: First Sunday after Pentecost

RECEIVE with favor, we beseech thee, O Lord, our Sacrifices which are being offered, and grant that they may become to us an unceasing help. Through.

Commemoration: St. Petronilla

May this sacrifice of thy dedicated people be accepted by thee, O Lord, in honor of thy Saints: to whose merits we attribute the help afforded us in tribulation. Through.

COMMUNION Tob. 12. 6
We bless the God of heaven, and before all living we will praise him; because he hath shown his mercy to us.

POSTCOMMUNION

O LORD, our God, may the receiving of this Sacrament and the acknowledging of the holy and eternal Trinity and its undivided Unity profit us unto health of mind and body. Through.

COMMEMORATION: First Sunday after Pentecost

WE who are filled with such precious gifts, beseech thee, O Lord, that we may obtain graces for salvation, and never cease from thy praise. Through.

Commemoration: St. Petronilla

Thou hast filled thy household, O Lord, with holy gifts: do thou cherish us always, through the intercession of her whose festival we are keeping. Through.

PROPER LAST GOSPEL

+ The Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Luke (6.36-42)

AT that time, Jesus said unto his disciples: Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. And he spake a parable unto them; Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.
