20 May 2015 - Saint Bernadin of Sienna, Confessor (Octave of the Ascension)

Semi-Double - White

Commemorate the Octave of the Ascension with the Collects as on the Feast of the Ascension after the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion of the mass of the Saint.

INTROIT Ps. 36.30-31.

The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom and his tongue shall speak judgement: the law of his God is in his heart. Alleluia. Ps. 36.1. Be not emulous of evildoers: nor envy them that work iniquity. V.: Glory be.

COLLECT

O Lord Jesus Christ, thou didst grant to blessed Bernardin, thy Confessor, a surpassing love for thy holy Name: we beseech thee, by his merits and intercession, graciously pour into our hearts the spirit of thy love: Who livest and reignest.

LESSON Ecclus. 31.8-11.

Blessed is the man that is found without blemish, and that hath not gone after gold, nor put his trust in money nor in treasures. Who is he, and we will praise him? For he hath done wonderful things in his life. Who hath been tried thereby, and made perfect, he shall have glory everlasting: he that could have transgressed, and hath not transgressed: and could do evil things, and hath not done them: therefore are his goods established in the Lord, and all the Church of the Saints shall declare his alms.

Alleluia, alleluia. V.: James 1.12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation, for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life. Alleluia. V.: Ecclus. 45.9. The Lord loved him and adorned him: He clothed him with a robe of glory. Alleluia.

+ The Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew (19.27-29)

At that time, Peter answering, said to Jesus: Behold we have left all things, and have followed thee: what therefore shall we have? And Jesus said to them: Amen I say to you, that you who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my Name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.

OFFERTORY Ps. 88.25.

My truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my Name shall his horn be exalted. Alleluia.

SECRET

We offer thee, O Lord, this sacrifice of praise in memory of thy Saints. Free us from evil now and in the future through their intercession. Through.

Communion Matt. 24.46-47.

Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord cometh he shall find watching: amen I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods. Alleluia.

POSTCOMMUNION

Refreshed with heavenly Food and Drink we humbly pray thee, our God, that we may be strengthened by the prayers of thy Saint, in whose memory we have received this Sacrament. Through.
