To thee have I lifted up my soul: in thee, O my God, I put my trust, let me not be ashamed: neither let mine enemies laugh at me: for none of them that wait on thee shall be confounded. Ps. 24.4. ¶ And the above method of reciting the Introit is obsevered at all masses, except where otherwise noted. The Introit itself is said, then the Psalm fragment given, followed by the Gloria Patri. Then the Introit is repeated up to, but not including the Psalm. The Gloria Patri is abbreviated Glory be. and the repeated Introit is assumed but not given in this book from here foreward.
¶ The Gloria in Excelsis is not said from this Sunday until the First Mass of the Nativity exclusive, except at feasts.
COLLECT
STIR up thy power, we beseech thee, O Lord, and come: that from the threatening dangers of our sins we may deserve to be rescued by thy protection, and to be saved by thy deliverance. Who livest and reignest, with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.
¶ The Collect of the Day, except where noted, is always given its own ending. Then follow the required or discretionary commemorations, then Seasonal Prayers as appointed, and finally any Collects ad Libitum at the discretion of the priest, all under one ending. The usual ending for Collects is Through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord, who with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen. This is abbreviated Through. at the end of Collects. Any variations on that ending are indicated in the abbreviation. ¶ In this mass and at the end of all masses in which the Gloria in Excelsis is omitted, Benedicamus Domino (Let us Bless the Lord) is said in lieu of Ite Missa Est (Depart in Peace).
¶ At ferial masses during the week, except during Lent, the mass of the Season for the preceding Sunday is simply resumed, with the Creed omitted and the ferial tone used.
